The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix - A Weekend To Remember...

The past weekend on Belle Isle will be one to remember for quite a long time to come. Between the soaking rains of the first day to the sunshine of the second and then the final race with its unusual ending on Sunday, the race weekend on Belle Isle did not disappoint! It was a grand time for all as witnessed by the packed stands all the way through Sunday evening. Images of families attending the race or friends together for the first time reminded me of a time when the jewel known as Belle Isle was always busy with an event or a picnic.

 

The Penske organization played a large role in bringing the race back to Belle Isle and they pulled it off once again.  Unfortunately their drivers did not get to stand on the podium at the end but they raced well and Will Power continues as the series points leader for Indy Cars.
